Homewood Fund Run 5K - PR!

Sunny skies, temps in the 40's, light breeze - what more could a runner ask for! Today our family ran the local 5K to support District 153. They had a kids 153 yard dash. M ran in the 3-4 age group and finished 2nd!! She even slipped, fell, got right back up and passed a few girls to finish second! She had a blast and we were so proud of her. She told me she ran fast to beat the other girls (a little of her mom's competition? oh dear).
My mom came out to watch the kids so that both C and I could run without pushing the double jogger. She had fun watching us run too. There were tons of kids activities too and they cheered us to the finish.
I wore my compression socks because of the chill and layered with a long sleeve shirt over an old 5K race shirt - it was perfect. I ran to all Jason Mraz since I'm really loving his new CD and did not clock on my map my run...I didn't want to know my splits I just wanted to run.
I pr'd - 24:30 - pace 7:53.  I was hoping to go sub 24 but hopefully next race I can push myself more. I was pacing with another lady for awhile, even passed her for a bit then she passed me towards the end. She ended up finished 20 seconds faster - it's crazy how seconds count so much! I truly didn't feel I pushed myself as much as I should have. So a bit disappointed.
But I did place 1st in my age group, 4th overall female finishers and 40/364 overall. I don't have huge competition on the female end. Poor C, the guys are crazy fast in these local races - most finish sub 20!
It was a great race and I have another medal to hang up!! My lungs feel so clear today - love that!
