Impressed

At the library today I started talking with a man that had a baby (his great grandaugther) that had a very interesting story all her own. But for some reason, I looked at him and asked "are you a runner, you look like a runner?". He replied "yes I am, are you, you look like one too?". I took that as a total compliment as he was completely lean, no fat on this older man whatsoever. Anyhow, I learned that he has been running since he was 34 (a year younger than when I first started)....he doesn't run as far anymore he says but he has run 26 marathons - he said his SLOWEST was 3:40 and his fastest was 3:00.

We talked running a bit and I told him I'm only interested in doing half's until a. I have a good time under my belt b. I have the TIME to devote to running past 12 miles.

He said he never thought running a 6 hour marathon was impressive, just how some people run them to say they run them. I totally agree. I would rather never do one or do one and keep doing them for years and have good times. For now my goal is to do TWO half marathons a year, plus 10k and 5ks as often as I can. And just keep running....

He runs everyday, up to 10 miles a day, at 5am. I have a lot to live up to.
